First listen.. pretty incredible!.. to my ears. I listened to the Chateau Tapes first and that was a real treat. Along with the audio is a looping slideshow of pictures from the book (by Carl Dunn and Larry Lent via TJTG) There was pretty much no flute on any of it except a little background here and there (Skating Away). Which was weird. I kept messing with my 5.1 amp settings because I couldn't get it to sound the way I imagined but I think that's because there is so much I'm used to hearing from the 93 overdubs that isn't there. When I put the Passion Play DVD in it was instant ear candy. WOW! I must listen a couple more time but I am pretty amazed right now. It sounded shockingly good! The extra verses are almost surreal to hear.

Congratulations for the mention in APP, fantastic, and also to Pat for the brilliant interview with Jane. You guys have worked so hard in providing all JT fans with some amazing memorabilia and lots of other things and I for one appreciate it. You are all Tulltastic…………. As are you Kelpie! Thanks for the appreciation.

Just couldn't wait for my birthday this Sat to receive CD.... just downloading from iTunes for a sneaky peak....ssshhh! ....feeling guilty now but it's got to be done. I don't think the Steven Wilson version is out on iTunes yet.. I just looked & it says its still on pre-order. I will be stepping down to my 5.1 theatre tonight for a listen. The Package and book look brilliant! The little bit of just the 2 channel mix sounded superb. I will post more after listening to the 5.1 a few times.

Gr8! The 75 drum solo was pretty epic! Love the "Ladies" Avatar B2. Now that looks like "Tull"! Yes that was an amazing Drum Solo! I love how John just perfectly walks into frame claps & leaves as if he did it on purpose.... Hmmm You never know B2! But very possible! Ian has done this before for the cameras.

Thanks Erin! Here's a couple more I missed: This one is a crowd shot...the guy in the sunglasses and Warchild t-shirt is my great-uncle Norm. If there's anybody here who attended the USA Tull conventions in the 90's you may know or recognize him (he was a bit grayer). I think he was around 40 here - back then, I guess he would've been considered the "old" guy at the rock concert! Really great! Cool shirt on your uncle! If that were me I'd be the "old guy at the concert" now. Skytzo, I imagine (like myself) that while growing up you had a photo album or two filled with tull pics?

I have no idea why Look at the Animals was not released as a single. Distinctive (and rocking) chorus riff, interesting lyrics. It was my first favorite song of the Chateau cuts. When I first heard Scenario/Audition/No Rehearsal (20th boxset 1988) I was floored that it was never released. Ian was throwing away masterpieces back then lol.. Some of that stuff is some of my favorite of all Tull.

I never really noticed that until now.. But, yeah it's like that through out the recording. Unfortunately it isn't really mine to share.. Got it from the man who taped it, with the promise it wouldn't be released to the public.. Yes, Keyboard among other instruments How about yourself Darin? Yes, Flute, wind Synth, keys. Yes, our own Darin Cody is a great flautist/musician as you can hear from his "Bones" project. I really dig this album.

So B2, does the 69 Fillmore video have the same straight (and dry) board audio through out, with the overriding vocal channel up? sure like to see some more of that. :-) Darin (Are you a keyboard player? hence the B2?) I never really noticed that until now.. But, yeah it's like that through out the recording. Unfortunately it isn't really mine to share.. Got it from the man who taped it, with the promise it wouldn't be released to the public.. Yes, Keyboard among other instruments How about yourself Darin? Direct soundboard mix. The guitars etc. were loud on stage and didn't need to be going through the desk. If anyone has an audience recording of this gig it could be mixed with the vocal dominant board tape to create a nicely balanced recording. But that's a pretty big If. Someone should talk to the filmer about getting this 45 year old footage out to public as it's very historic by now and while the original tull fans are still with us. Maybe a Tull convention screening Just putting it out there.

I took my hand at editing this clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wewmoYnP2k Ill Upload my version either tonight or tomorrow on YouTube. Here is a quick still comparison before & after. I was able to remove a lot of tape noise & artifacts while keeping as much detail as possible. looks promising.

Yes that is true Ian. Is it possible "do you believe in the day" was played once or twice in 1972 and it just didn't work? I used to wonder, but I think it's very unlikely. Nobody has ever said they heard "do you believe in the day" live.. and it's not on any unofficial recordings. Which is odd because it's such a great section and not impossible to do live. Perhaps it's because there is a great deal of that section with flute and voice happening at the same time? Yes, but that doesn't make it impossible to perform live. It just wouldn't be exactly like the record which is no different than many other songs Tull have performed which have flute (or other instruments) over the verses. I know Ian will say that is why they didn't do it.. but it never made too much sense to me.

I read somewhere that this is the first time TaaB was performed in it's entirety, as the "do you believe in the day?" part was omitted from the original 1972 tour. Is this true? Yes that is true Ian. That Roxy band is definetly my favorite. Napolean is such a great performer and a cool guy. And Yes Ruth underwood was fantastic! One of the shows besides Tull I would go back and see. Erin, if you don't have this, I highly suggest you pick up Zappa's Roxy by Proxy - about 75 minutes worth of unreleased music from the Roxy. The closing medley of "King Kong / Chunga's Revenge / Mr. Green Genes" is one of my favorite Zappa moments ever. barfkoswill.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?cp=971_62209&pc=ZPCD166You don't have to twist my arm.. I'll take it! Thanks!

Yeah, Zappa in 73 would've been killer. That was the band with Ruth and Ian Underwood, Jean Luc Ponty, George Duke, etc. One of the best bands he ever put together. If you don't have it, I highly recommend the Road Tapes 2 disc, taken from a couple of August dates in Finland on that tour. barfkoswill.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?pc=ZPCD167The rest of the lineup (aside from Hawkwind and Jeff beck Group) is unfamiliar to me. I was never a big fan of Hawkwind - I think they are a 'you had to be there' kind of group. Ian, yes Zappa in 72 and 3 was killer! I saw Frank and the band on New Years Eve show 73/74 and it was a very long show. Fantastic. Frank did an audience participation thing where the (festively seated) crowd would spread a big open space in the middle of the floor and all the women would throw their panties in it and the set up to the bit took an hour and he kept referring to the "ever widening hole" and all the things that were to go in it. No panties were ever thrown into the middle of the floor and the set up was the show. He was quite the MC. Ruth Underwood was one of my favorite members of the band! EVER! Cute and immensely talented don't always go together. I also recently found a youtube audio of the first time I saw Frank at the Hollywood Bowl with the The Grand Wazzoo Orchestra, Hollywood Bowl in 72. recording is not great but its fantastic to hear the first time this ensemble ever played together and my first of many Frank shows. Darin That Roxy band is definetly my favorite. Napolean is such a great performer and a cool guy. And Yes Ruth underwood was fantastic! One of the shows besides Tull I would go back and see. Not sure if this was officialy released or not but I have never seen it until recently. Line up from Oct 1978. Worth waiting for the commercial. Frank Zappa - guitar, vocals Denny Walley - slide guitar, vocals Ike Wiilis - guitar, vocals Patrick O'Hearn - bass Arthur Barrow - bass Tommy Mars - keyboards Peter Wolf - keyboards Vinnie Colaiuta - drums Ed Mann - percussion

This is my first time hearing BBT. They are pretty popular in prog circles and over at the station, but I don't get it. Sure, their musicianship is top notch, but the vocalist sounds way too much like Phil Collins for my tastes. Still, when the singer stays quiet and allows the band to take over, the music is pretty good. Speaking of bands with Phil Collins' sound-a-likes, here's Phil's son, Simon, and his band Sound of Contact. Not really my thing, but if you like BBT, you might like this too. Thought BBT vocalist sounded more like Peter Gabriel myself Not that there's too much of a difference during the early years. Enjoyed Sound of Contact - will look them up. BBT sounds very nice. Early Genesis influence in the voice. I have heard Sound of Contact before and think they are pretty good also.
