I bet Good godmother is extremely weird and cool. Ian always holds back the *really* weird stuff.

Thank you. Congrats to all involved in this edition. Would be nice to make this a habit. NEXT! So many secrets - I'm going to burst. Fun! I'll keep my comments under wraps for now - I will be interested in all comments about this set. Cheers JohnN Please feel free to unburden yourself TT! (Sincere congrats!!)I'm excited to see the whole set. (Even the secret parts) I'm almost afraid to hear what they did to "Tomorrow was Today" in the studio, 3 or 4 years after they used to do it live so well. Darin PS. Ian B!, Im still hungover (Not alcohol related, tho there were cocktails!) from the JT Convention and I have a lot to say about it but, It was hundreds of events in one over a 3 day weekend……Still trying to digest it all!!! Yes, the hangover still lingers even after a week removed from the convention. So many wonderful folks at the convention it was great to meet them all. The Warchild set looks great and it is great to be involved in another of these releases. Also a congrats go out to TooTull..aka John N, who has also participated in the release. I hope these release continue because they add so much to the "Tull" catalog and the getting the Wilson treatment makes it even more interesting. It is strange that "Tomorrow Was Today" was in this set and not in the "Aqualung" release, but I look forward to hearing it, as well as a few others. Look for more good things to come from this set.

Really impressive vocals particularly Back Door Angels and Sealion. I love what now sounds like the Mighty Blackpool Tower Ballroom Wurlitzer in the background of Sealion

As some guy said... And when all is said and all is done, I couldn't wish for a better WarChild. Agree that disc 2 is great, I've been playing this more than the main album tracks. Even Bungle In the Jungle is fun in surround sound. Hooked on the quad versions big time, thinking too much about that quad. Spectacular WAR!

So, I've always admittedly been a bit underwhelmed by WarChild and have always felt that it paled in comparison to the far more exciting offerings that surround it - Thick as a Brick, Passion Play, Minstrel in the Galley, and Too Old to Rock 'n Roll. However, this boxed set has given me an excuse to go back and rediscover and reappraise this record and the time in which it was composed - particularly in the context of the film project.
I have to say, WarChild has now become one of my absolute favorites! How could I overlook those gorgeous melodies in the title track (surely one of Ian's all time great compositions), the weird sea shanty "Queen and Country" (a-ha!), and the beautiful parlor guitar of "Ladies"? (not to mention the castanets) The psuedo blues of "Back Door Angels" and the prog-pomp of "Sealion"? The expert songcraft and dynamism that unfolds in "Skating Away", the complexity and triumph of "The Third Hoorah", and the epic, thrilling conclusion of "Two Fingers"?
Somehow this all escaped me in previous listens and it's not until I heard this album over the course of several listens that the genius of this album finally hit me. You could write a college paper on the rhythmic complexities and subtleties of "The Third Hoorah" alone (what a brilliant track that is - just listen to those parts - it's almost classical!). NO ONE else in rock was doing anything on that level, with the possible exception of Gentle Giant.
What I've finally realized is that WarChild is yet another masterpiece in a catalog that has spoiled us with masterpieces. Once you peel back the layers, you discover just how well put together this piece of art really is.

I'll sound like Little Sir Echo!
I've always been a lover of WarChild [as well as the black and white]. it was allowed to be overshadowed by many when considered within the trilogy of TaaB, APP and WarChild and seemingly considered by some to be the bastard child of APP when bits and pieces of the Chateau tapes were issued, BUT, IMO WarChild really comes of age with this release.
