Ultimate Classic Rock 10 Rock Stars Who Didn’t Play Woodstock – And Why by Nick DeRiso 1 Jethro Tull
Reason: Fear of Naked Ladies "I asked our manager Terry Ellis, 'Well, who else is going to be there?' And he listed a large number of groups who were reputedly going to play, and that it was going to be a hippie festival," Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson once told SongFacts, "and I said, 'Will there be lots of naked ladies? And will there be taking drugs and drinking lots of beer, and fooling around in the mud?' Because rain was forecast. And he said, 'Oh, yeah.' So I said, 'Right. I don't want to go.' Because I don't like hippies, and I'm usually rather put off by naked ladies unless the time is right."Read More: 10 Rock Stars Who Didn't Play Woodstock - And Why | ultimateclassicrock.com/woodstock-who-didnt-play/?utm_source=sailthru&utm_medium=referral&trackback=tsmclipHmmm...yeah....

I think I commented on this on FB last week, after watching the DVD "The Fully Authorized Story" the night before. Terry tells it that Tull was slated to go to Woodstock but he'd heard the conditions sucked (from Ten Years After) and the pay sucked. He'd had a competing bid from a College in Texas in San Antonio on the 15th supporting Led Zep and the Catacombs on the 16th and the money was great. Terry said he made the decision based on money and its his fault that Tull wasn't at Woodstock. It looks like they did well though……career wise. I think Ian was just being "Ian" in answering about naked ladies and hippies, actually its a pretty funny response. Darin
