Not knowing where to post these random ramblings relating to the live performance of HE. Thought this was the most appropriate place . Will report back on Manchester tomorrow.
Its a good and very enjoyable show, but the visual backdrop is synchronised so totally tightly to each live tune. It seems to me that whilst this is visually entertaining it is at the same time musically constraining in every way. In practice, it means that no spontaneous improvisation can take place even for a few moments if desired , as the visuals would be out of sync. There is of course, a fine balance between a polished tightly spun rehearsed performance and the independent breath and possible unique individuality of each live performance. I wonder what readers would prefer spontaneity and sometimes incompetence or rehearsed competence ? I know where I stand
Secondly , regarding the live spoken monologues
I wonder if these were originally intended to be a part of the HE studio release but were left out because of the perceived negative reaction they might have caused

Interesting Preston. I think Ian should have used the video projections sparingly. There should be sections where there is no video and therefore room to improvise and for the focus to be on the musicians only. It makes for a more dynamic presentation to use video at certain points and not through the entire gig.
