Whats Your Favorite Tull Stage Gag? weather its the telephone, the zebra, the rabbits, the ship rigging, the gorilla, or whatever else you can think of! Let me know! I have to say that over the years I've enjoyed them all but the one that stands out for me was the telephone call for Mike Nelson, the scuba diver, during the TAAB show just when the song started humming along, it was so unexpected. I'd been the year before and the humor was "on" during the show but TAAB was one I'd prepped for and thought I knew all the songs well but this was just off the wall. After that, I didn't know what the gag was going to be but I knew "something" was going to happen and loved it when it did. The whole news reading bit was hilarious, Barrie and Martin going into the little tent on stage and then after a while with other things going on simultaneously, the two of them come out of the tent having each other's pants on. This was NOT a Ten Years After concert! BTW one of our members here, Mick, was the Scuba diver that walked across the stage and I think I heard he was also the Gorilla. loved all the stuff that happened during Warchild were akin to a three ring circus and it was a killer of a show, saw it 4 out of 5 nights. thanks for asking! Whats Your Favorite Tull Stage Gag? weather its the telephone, the zebra, the rabbits, the ship rigging, the gorilla, or whatever else you can think of! Let me know! I missed the real theatrical shows (my first in 77) but have seen on bits of film and know about many of the classic gags that took place. I think the phone gag is pure genius. Instantly stopping the show in the middle of a chaotic 5/4 passage of the brick to answer a ringing phone and then pick up in the song right where they left off without missing a beat! How cool is that! Although this did happen again in the middle of Hunting Girl in 2003 and the phone call was for the "ample chested blonde in the front row sitting with that guy" to which Ian threw the phone to my girlfriend, always stands out as a highlight. We are lucky to have at least 2 members of the classic era road crew here at the group page. Mick, the scuba diver and Chris, Tull's longtime sound engineer I'm sure they have favorites.
