Despite being a fan since the very early days [Seeing the KT Bush band at a couple of pub gigs in South London before she hit the big time] I missed seeing her on the Tour of Life tour in 1979. Although, I've been lucky enough to have seen her perform live several times at the first Comic Relief show with Rowan Atkinson, the Rock Gala Prince's Trust Concert [with others including Ian, Martin, Peggy, PJV and Phil Collins] and at Amnesty gigs as well as special guest appearances with Peter Gabriel and meeting her once or twice. However, this week I get to see her perform 'Before the dawn'. Its the first of a few trips over to Hammersmith to see her for her first live shows since '79. Am I looking forward to it? You bet I am!

Just got in,
A few quick thoughts from the positive side
Brilliantly surreal production or just spinal tap? Without doubt the former.
The move from a few regularly presented hits from the past as openers to the show into the magnificently staged "The Ninth Wave" was brilliantly staged and executed.
On the closing; 2 hours 40 minutes of pure theatre that was so worth every penny. One press reviewer described Kate Bush as "delightfully bonkers", and thank God she is.
She held the entire theatre in her hand and played it for all it was worth. This is the exemplar for how to produce a show utilising backdrop projection, stage support and theatrics. I've seen some shows n my time but this was everything, rock gig, West End play, Dance show and to top it off Kate Bush.
I can't wait for Sept 19 to come around.

I hope there are plans to release video of this. I have to admit to just not seeing much from her over the years aside from a late 70s TV show. Love to see more. (Seems last night was quite the star studded event) Darin

(Seems last night was quite the star studded event) Darin Given the scale of the production I'd say yes the likelihood of a DVD is high. There was no sign of cameras last night and I would suspect it would need a multi-camera set up to catch the spectacle of the whole show which took in use of the roof space, the aisles up to the stage, a full width backdrop projection, and every bit of the stage area. She has been quite sparing in attending live shows as a guest, the last being a Dave Gilmour solo show I think. the Hammersmith 'tour of life' show from '79 is out there, as are some great videos, 'The Line, The Cross and The Curve' and various compilations of videos to her singles. She looked comfortable on stage last night and seemed to really enjoy the whole thing. She asked for no ipad or phone cameras to be used. It shows the scale of respect she commands amongst fans that in 3 hours the only times I saw cameras out were prior to the start, during the intermission and at the end. Apart from the two women sat in front of my friends who chatted through songs [and who I had to tell to shut up] it was an audience captivated by the show.
