Deep Cuts #50 is now available for streaming! On this week's Deep Cuts, I've got a variety of progressive music prepared for you! First up, I've got brand some brand new music from Japan's Happy Family. After a 17 year hiatus, Happy Family return with a brand new release entitled Minimal Gods. Happy Family combine the sort of visceral energy and riffs associated with heavy metal with Zappa-esque melodies and repetitive, odd-rhythm grooves that inspire comparison to Zeuhl legends Magma. The riffs are addictive, the solos are tasteful, and most importantly, it rocks hard. Also on the program, I'll be spinning some recent music from Louisville-based masters of chamber rock, Ut Gret. When I first heard their new record, Ancestor's Tale, I was totally transfixed by the sounds I was hearing. Imagine what might have resulted if Unrest-era Henry Cow hopped on a spaceship with Pentangle and Bubu and traveled to the hippest planet in the universe. You won't want to miss this for the world. www.mixcloud.com/progrockdeepcuts/prog-rock-deep-cuts-50/

Ian,
as always thanks for posting and introducing this old fart to a lot of new sounds.
I regret not being able to listen 'live' and join in the online chat, but I'll sit back, relax and enjoy an evenings light entertainment a little later.
Pat
